It's a Name Game

I never thought of this, but I like my name!
few months ago i was Just preparing some notes for weekly bible sharing in my uni, and they’re talking about my baptism name (as creative as I am, it’s Laura).
It just makes me think on why I chose it.
I mean, this is the only time I can change my name to something cooler, something I want since I was little (I always like the name ‘Zoe’ or ‘Chloe’ but just came to my mind lately that these names are too..er… millennium-22ndCentury-zoom-zoom-silver-clothing-with-magnificent-gadget for me)
So I remembered this lady give me a book weeks before I get baptized on baptismal name.
I looked through it (well... skimming actually…er…or i might not even read it), and I couldn’t find a name that struck me.
Or if I found one, the lady died coz somebody hang her or sth..
We don’t want to have a name that related to a mass murder or anything synonym to it, do we?

So anyway, I chose my name at the end. Simple but meaningful: Laura
As what my mom had chosen when I was still a size 0 (baby size)
As what my dad had called me for 21yrs now (just passed august, means i'm 21...damiT)
As what my grandma always wanted to call me but end up with my pet name instead (won’t tell you what it is, but we tend to use our few first letter and just pronounce it twice)
As what my sisters refer me only to a formal friend(coz I think they cant differentiate which my real name is)
As what my brother never called me of (coz I also never refer him with his birth name)
And as my passport, IDs, and other somewhat-important-but-mostly-useless cards identified me as.

My mom once said that I almost end up with another name, but coz my cousin (once she was a paranormal) said it will bring me bad luck, my mom chose Laura instead.
Thank God for leading her to this name, I can’t imagine if I end up with other name, for example Paula…and have ‘Poo-Poo’ as my nickname…NOOOO!!!
