ding-a-ra-ding-ding

it's the holiday season peeps!
does it feel like it?
does it smell like Christmas?
is there any warm and fuzzy feeling surrounds you?
certainly not here.
but, otokajo? or what should i do in Korean.
you just have to work with what you got, don't u think so?

since my plan to go to OZ at the end of the year goes down the drain due to the high price of plane tickets, in this festive season, I'll try to do some resolutions in the next month, or few months (if it all works out according to plan).
first, is to use the kitchen more!
it's been quite some time since i bake my dessert.
cook and roast some pasta and chicken, but not much on the sugary stuff
so it'll be a mission to create fine desserts this Dec.
some of the recipe that I'll try to create is Pecan pie. and other pie for that matter. coz i think i need to practice to make a good pie crust.
it'll be hard to knead the pie dough with my warm blooded hand, but I'll damn try!
fighting!

next, the treadmill that my mom ordered is gonna arrive within this week.
so, back to the conveyor belt and shed some grams from all the dessert I'm going to bake! not loving this one, but since i don't have anything much going on, might as well.

finish all my Korean TV shows! ou yea!! since my good pals from Perth came back for the holiday, I've bee glued to my computer screen for some k-world. This might be a good end of the year thanks to this one.

that's it for now. going to browse for recipes...
take care

Eu~

elu!
it's been a long time.
seems like it was yesterday when i was complaining about work.
well, it wasn't that long time ago.
Anywho, was travelling to EU during my last holiday.
Germany, Holland, Italy in that order.
will upload random pics from the trip!
what i love...

Germany -- Pretzel
never really like it, but i get used to it during the trip..kinda miss it actually!

Random flower shop on the street.
and the flowers last almost a week compared to 2-3days max when i tried to keep a bouquet here.
just remember to water and minimum lighting. ;)

Colors
this is brilliant. love when things are splashed with colors.

Holland - windmill!
what else, really, to better describe sth famous from this part of the world?

Can't show Italy in just one post. so will post it on other occasion. but here is what's new from the trip. we make it to the local newspaper! LOL. dunno the exact translation, but i can guess along the line. ;D

'til i post again,

week 3rd of august

bad bad//so-so:
cut my hair last week. looks super ordinary...waiting for miracle to happen (loose 10kg of weight) so i won't look ridiculous with short hair.

my eyesight is getting worse...i think... want to be less dependent on my glasses, but i barely can see the door knob without it. won't be funny if i bumped the glass door in my office.

fired the office boy. skip work 4x almost every month...with no call. telling him to give notice didn't work either. one day, he's MIA for 2 weeks, and suddenly came back with a nervous laugh. just said "don't give a shit" at his face, then i left. before i start working, i seriously thought i can be friendly with everyone in the office. not anymore. I'm sick of no-respect attitude from my employees.

one the good side:
birthday coming up within 48hrs or so. planning to have Sunday brunch @ my house by chef Yenny (my sis).
the menu so far consists of: nachos, ham and egg tortilla, grilled spicy and sour chicken wing, roast chicken with vege condiments, Indonesian style fried noodle, sticky date pudding, strawberry white chocolate pie.
:) happy :)
the idea is endless, but the help is limited. but recommendations are still open. what else should i add? hmm...

visa came out...picture looks ridiculous, but i got my schengen visa!! uuu yea!
Europe, here i come!!!
finally, all Italian curse words that I've learned by hard can come to use.
can't wait to see ms.rouja.
*big smile*

Fruit it!

I thought living in a tropical country means a whole loads of fruits varieties. and we do have humongously different kinds of fruits, but it turns out that i haven't seen it all. Here are some that i haven't seen before, let alone taste it. thanks to the help of the world wide web.

Goumi

rich in vitamin A, C, and E and Grows rapidly in China. like the vibrant color. i think this is what it'll looks like if u cross-breed cranberry, grape and baby tomatoes.

Sapote

haven't seen this fruit but it looks like sth that grows in a tropical country. it can cause drowsiness, so... eating it is not recommended.

Dogwood

quite sweet tho tasteless. some used for medicinal reason as it is good for kidney. looks super weird huh? seems like something u'd find deep down under the sea.

Santol

looks like mangosteen from the inside and tiny pumpkin from the outside. widely used for jam. i wonder how this one taste...hmm...

Ugli

derived from the name "ugly" to represent the look of it. despite the name, amongst everything else in this list, i would really love to eat this most as it comes from citrus family (my fav!).

half lively

my blog is half dead.
and so does my social life.
work is going on...and on...like titanic song.
getting better i think, with the new secretary. things are being handled quite well and not as hectic as i used to be, tho the upcoming big holiday may be the cause of this.

so these days im just waiting for 1st of aug. the day of the visa interview
the italian dude gonna decide whether he'll give us the visa, or not.
i know we'll gonna get it. but i couldn't care less if otherwise.
this holiday planning has been spreading to my nerve

so..so....it's almost my birthday.
what shud i do?
im a person that hates planning for birthdays. well, at least for mine.
and while the first plan to go to Bali with a cuppa friends goes down the drain,
i think i'll just take a day break, went for a cuppa coffee, read a book, alone.
me like some alone soothing day.

tqr.

SBS: Sunday Baking Session

Haven't cooked real meals for ages!
so this Sunday I tried to give it my all to cook a complete meal
(minus dessert)
spent 2 hours in the kitchen, keeping coming back and forth from stove to my crappy oven.
but finally I finished everything just in time for lunch

Beef salad with vinaigrette dressing

Main course

clockwise from the top
mayo-beef salad (just for my bro coz he hate any sour taste in his food.
stuffed mushroom
homemade fries
Grilled cajun chicken

Recipe:
Beef Salad
Beef was marinated a day before with chopped coriander, salt, black pepper, garlic, and red onion, drizzled with olive oil.
Grilled beef according to ur preference (rare-med-well)
for the salad, it really goes by feeling with no real recipe
50%-50% olive oil and a good balsamic vinegar
salt-black pepper to taste.
For the vege: i used a packet of mixed salad, 1 packet of baby spinach, a handful of halved baby tomatoes, and a can of shredded corn.

Stuffed mushroom
1 packet of button mushroom, stem removed and chopped
half handful of chopped bell pepper
2 small cloves of chopped garlic
a handful of ground beef
2 tbsp of milk
a handful of breadcrumb
stir fried chopped mushroom stem with chopped garlic, bell pepper, and ground beef.
remove from heat, mixed with milk and breadcrumb.
stuffed mushroom cap with the mixture (be generous!)
grilled on pre-heated oven of 200'c for 15-20mins until brown.

Homemade fries
sliced potatoes to the thickness u like, boiled it halfway done and freeze for a night.
This will leads to non-soggy fries. :)
batter mixture:
1 cup of flour
2 tsp of organic spiced salt (onion and garlic)
pinch of black pepper
3/4 tsp of paprika powder.
1/2 cup water (or more)
mixed everything in a bowl but make sure add the water gradually until a good consistency batter (a bit thick)
dip sliced potato in the batter and deep fried until golden brown.

Cajun Grilled Chicken
I marinate the chicken a day prior, spiced with cajun powder, 2 cloves each of bashed garlic and red onion, salt, black pepper and drizzled olive oil.
Discard garlic and red onion after marinade, grilled.

The other day, i dunno what to do and i made this cupcake and I don't remember the recipe for this one coz i totally made it up lol. at the end i just put a chunk of chocolate in the cupcake batter before putting it in the oven to get the chocolate melt effect at the bottom :D

it's smokin' all rite

The word is buzzing. there's another must-try restaurant in town!
few Saturdays ago, we try to book a few restaurant in the same area, but as we're in the waiting list No.4, 9, and 11 in 3 different restaurants, we cancelled all of them. so during the weekdays my friend and I tried one of them:
Smoking Joe
Jl. Lingkar Mega Kuningan. East Building.

Appetizer No.1: 3 buns with 3 different filling. it's actually pretty much the same as our main course, but i like this one better. prob coz the meat suits better with the buns. verdict: so-so.

Appetizer No.2: Nachos. my friends and i like it. more cheese wouldn't hurt tho. verdict: so-so.

Our main course of the day is 3 selections of smoked meat (chicken, pork, and beef) with corn on the cobs and sweet potato fries on the sides. pork is hard, beef has too much fat (it's bacon-like beef), chicken is the best amongst all but covered with too much spices. the sweet potato chips is nice tho. i think it'll be a superb companion for watching movie. =D
verdict: so-so

It's dessert time!!
one of the highlight of the dinner itself, i must say. (and so does 3 of my friends, i think). one of our fav is this one:
Crispy Chocolate Chip with Vanilla Ice Cream
But it's not crispy at all, in fact it's a bit gooey inside and taste a bit like chocolate cake. verdict: Me Like.

Apple Pie
another dessert. Too bad the pie base texture is a bit soggy, but good dessert nonetheless. verdict: so-so.

so last verdict...I'm not that big of fan of smoked delicacy except smoked salmon, so don't count on me on this one. But base on my taste, will i be back? probably not. but if u like the smell of smoked food, then you probably couldn't find any other restaurant that serves more smoked meat than this one.
Verdict-O-Meter:
Yux --- No-good --- so-so --- Me Like --- I'll be back
