Alas,
After more than 2 years being the absentee in the internet
blabber world, I’m back!
And it’s not a comeback unless I’m tapping the most
important hierarchy of human needs, food.
There’s absolutely something have been going on in my life
for the past 2 yrs. But nothing in particular for stopping me in blogging. I certainly
stop entertaining myself in writing since it becomes somewhat gym like. Meaning
I love the feeling afterwards, for letting it all out of your system through
sweat (and in blogging through words), but the initial get change-tie your shoe
lace-warm up sesh (in this case transferring pics and prolonged thinking
process on introductory words) has turn me otherwise.
HOWEVER! I’ve moved jobs now, still working with my dad, just into
different office, and has more time to myself than the past, er…I dunno, almost
4 years of working with him? So I used much of the opportunity to browse the
less imperative matter (pictures of cute corgis and weird cats behavior caught
on camera), until I realize I have a blog that need my attention more than a
pair of my needy black pump party shoe.
So the past year or so, I have:
- a boyfriend
- A very. Very Cute nephew named Kaizen (I assume it’s a ninja name. but watev)
- move 3 different offices
- Gain much much more weight (12 kgs to be exact). I’m at my heaviest at the moment, more than my high school fattest glory. They say it’s because I’m spending happy time with le bf. But we basically have one thing in common, food before anything else.
- Nothing else really. But I just prefer not to stop on the unlucky number of 4.
Onto the blogging stuff, to mark me and le bf 1st
anniversary together, we went to Wilshire restaurant in Kuningan area. It fall
on a Monday so we brave ourselves to drive across the city from west to south,
fingercrossing from the go that we might not encounter the condemned traffic of
busy hour. But it was fine. We had to use a lady jockey to avoid 3 in 1 area in
the central for Rp40.000,- , in which only later we found out from a friend that
it usually cost half of that.
So, Wilshire we went! 1st impression was awesome.
More and more restaurants in Jakarta
are adopting the industrial-warehouse deco and this one looks more towards
upscale of it. Pretty lightings, might be too dark for those who are not
looking for romantic time, comfy location in foundry 8 area, but might need
more air conditioning for comfy stay.
Here are the foods we ordered, mind you there’s 2 of us that are worth of 3 normal empty stomach:
Foie Gras Sushi. Can’t resist ordering this bite size cholesterol when i saw it on the menu. The sauce was a bit too sweet, but I like it nonetheless.
Hmm.. I can’t remember the name of this one. But it’s pork belly stir fry with spinach. And the sauce is once again a bit too sweet for me. I kind of get the impression that it is their signature style.
Ok now this one is slow cooked (24 hours) 55 degree beef. Honestly, I think I expected too much from it. First we order it, and then the waiter told us that they ran out of it, then after a few mins she went back to us and said they still have it. So I thought it must be pretty damn good. But the seasoning seems off. It might need a bit sprinkle from our 2 little friends on the table: salt and pepper shakers.
Strawberry and banana nutella mochi. I like this one 8). Nutella, strawberry, banana, covered with mochi are 4 best friends. I wonder why no other restaurants or cafes have adapted this on their menu. Maybe coz it needs a bit extra attention for the consistency of the mochi. But they can prepare it wayyyy overhead. *hint to other restaurants*
I was excited to see salted caramel cronuts on the menu, as I like both with equal amount. The cronut was nice, but the filling was way too salty. It was like eating sugar with ocean water. Less saltiness, and this one will be a bomb.
Apart from all
these, there are 2 more things that we ordered (oh yes, 2 more). Spaghetti aglio olio with
prawns and nutella soufflé, in which both I adore. Spaghetti was well seasoned
and al dente, nutella soufflé was… well, for someone who is not a fan of soufflé,
soft, crunchy and chewy gooey nutella was a good ending for a nice dinner.
All in all, it
was a good dinner. Overpriced? Maybe. Good location for dinner seeker? Absolutely.
Will I come back? There’s some other restaurants to dine and review.
