5 April 2011 = Bruno Mars

It's the time that I've been waiting for: Bruno Mars Live in Jakarta
been telling myself not to get too excited about it
(remind myself on previous Adam Lambert situation = too excited --> disappointment on the concert; no blog post on that)

So on the day of the concert, we haven't got our ticket yet...hang out for a bit in Starbucks and quick dinner in Pizza Marzano while waiting for my brother's friend got the ticket from the seller (we bought it from an unofficial seller coz the ticket sold out minutes after it was out on sale -_- )

Finally, we got our ticket!! yeay!!
doors open on 6pm...it's already 6.15..so off we go to the concert....

take a few pics coz concert always late as usual (starts at 8pm they say...it's already 8.30 and still no sign of Mr.Bruno). From the left: 2 of my siz, me, and my brother. :)

In accordance to the sold out ticket, It's a full house! Hallelujah for we didn't buy the standing tickets coz by the look of it, i'd be in an ambulance before the concert even started.

There's 13 songs + 1 for encore and that includes few of my favs: Nothing on You (without B.O.B), just the way you are, marry you, count on me, grenade, and billionare (without Mr.McCoy). Overall it was a great performance except that all BruMars-ers were really super excited and did sing-a-long for EVERY.SINGLE.SONG. and it's kinda obvious that sometimes he tried hard to scream to the songs so we can hear his voice. But! great night nonetheless.
So long Bruno...hope u had a great time in Indonesia. I had a blast and i think so did thousands other..and until then (as u promised that u'll visit us again soon), see you!

Here's a sneak peek at one of his performance:

Java jazzy night

4th of march means Java jazz! yeay!
for those who dunno how it works:
there's probably more than 10 indoor/outdoor venues in one place filled with its stage, sound system and all in each room. jazz players (local and around the world) come together and play for 3 nights (each day with different singers or group), but i only went for one day.
so it's my first nite doing this whole-night-dedicated-to-jazz thing
and here's the recap with some blurry and distant pics

due to the usual late-ness of jakarta peeps, we arrived at PRJ (the venue this yr) rather late..probably around 8pm, while the concert actually already started at 6.
we're there planned to see a few, and end up seeing quite a bunch of artists.

first off, local singers called panji sth. i dunno these people, never heard of them, but we saw it anyway coz my siz's friend said they're pretty good. but as soon as my siz n i get bored, we jump off to another venue.

it's The Groove!! ahh...such a nostalgic songs they played. remind me of my childhood where cable tv didn't exist and my life revolve around woke up-school-sleep routine. they were groovy and fun! i like this group, with it's long legged guy and eccentric lady, and moreover they surely can sing.

who is this guy? i think he's supposed to be in a group. but he's alone that night. ahh...it's sondre lerche...hope i pronounce it right. i don't think he's from my era..my siz said he's famous years ago. she went to his concert 3 yrs ago, and he still sang the same songs that night. he's quite wanted that night and the room were super packed. there for 10mins then ran away before i'm flat to the ground.

apart from all the contemporary jazz (or not jazz at all) venues that we went, this is the real Jazz. it's Roy Hargrove Quintet. thank goodness people decided to sit on the floor and just enjoy the show. some of us even started to doze off after a while. we were there to see Barry Likumahuwa, but he arrived late and we supposed to go to other venue, so...no Barry.

THE STAR OF THE NIGHT: Corrine Bailey Rae. she's such a sunshine. awesome live singer too (for me, singer is all about how u perform live, not how u sound in ur recording cds or mv). tho i was standing farrrr way back (outside-the-exit-door-far), can still hear her loud and clear. and when she sang, she just bring joy to the place with her voice. just A.W.E.S.O.M.E

that's the last show of the night, so then we head home.
the clock strike 1.30am and we need our sleep.

Bandung Pt.2

A bit of Bandung view in this post, but 1st of all a bit of 'ugly beauty'
this head is made of coconut then they carve it to head-like wood carve.
my Chinese friend look at it and fell in love with it.
she said it again and again that it's super pretty.
hmm...i guess it's the ugly pretty that she meant.
coz i certainly don't see the pretty side of it, except the pretty good skill of the carver.

the strawberry farm is back!
and u can see a bit part of my mom's but* here...haha
she's so focused to get pretty strawberries that she even forgot to put her bag away. her HUGE (notice the caps) bag

it's strawberry farmer!!!
jk...he's my driver.
by this post, i'd like to show my gratitude for him, coz he's been driving us all the way from Jakarta-Bandung-Jakarta and here and there in bandung...we are ladys with loads of requests, but he did a good job. :)
i think he's channeling his inner farmer here as he picked the most strawberries that day. lol

Last but not least, it's Tangkuban Perahu. this historical places located in Lembang, Bandung is a natural beauty. it has some still active volcano and a bit smelly at some place, but still depicted great scenery. some shops there sell the lava-water-ready-made-bottled-water. interesting. i dunno what to do with it tho. i heard it's good for ur skin.

off i go, see u in next post
